It is the last day of the year so I've gotta wrap this up and move on to 2012...
Where were we? Early summer?
July was busy - I started really focusing on wedding plans and traveled over to the VVR several times. My fingers bled making those time-consuming t-shirt flowers, and I created our "save the date" postcard. Goldfish were purchased and added to the water feature and one by one they passed away - don't think I'm repeating THAT in 2012 - it hit me harder than I would like to admit. Two hardy goldfish made it through the summer and well into the fall - but finally, when the leaves were falling like crazy and I didn't get out often enough to clean them out of the pool they joined their brethren in goldfish heaven.
August was all about having my niece here for a month and getting a new puppy, little Belladonna. It was different, having a teenager around but wonderful too and a time I'll always treasure. We rode horses and house-trained the pup, traveled over to the resort and worked in the store, watched "Twilight" and got to know each other a little better. A very special time.
September was memorable in a sad way, as we lost our good buddy Chance. He was a fine dog, happy and easy-going and such a huge part of the last decade of my life. I will never forget him.
And... on a happier note...
Our good friends were wed and we had a wonderful time celebrating with them.
October was Portland (that makes THREE times - Southern Charm!) and another wonderful retreat... even though I only took one class it was a great one and the best part was spending time with my nephew and "sister from another mother". We did a good job of exploring parts of Portland that I hadn't seen before, we made it to Voodoo Doughnuts, and we were again inspired by the wonders of the Monticello Antique marketplace.
Oh, and I came home with a horse trailer!
November was all about invitations - printing and assembling and mailing. And getting more into production mode with the jewelry....
and staying up on the wedding decorations...
And calling the caterer, the venue, finding missing pieces, figuring out the photobooth...
Oh, and then there was Thanksgiving in SoCal:
All beaches and warm weather and sunshine...
December has really been mostly about ice skating. Almost every weekend, lakes we never thought we'd skate on... Tioga Pass open... skating, skating, skating. A year to remember in terms of skating.
And Christmas and getting down to the wire on the wedding plans, feeling alternately frantic and resigned... wondering if it really is too late to consider Vegas....
But we are almost there. Almost to 2012, almost to marriage, almost to the next set of adventures.
You can be sure, if you read this, that I will be posting and blogging in the new year.
Have a Happy New Year's Eve!
