Monday was a quick trip north to Carson City for me - a couple of appointments and a small list of "to-do"s. What I managed to squeeze in around the appointments were visits to two thrift stores looking for snow globe components.
Instead I found a variety of "finds" - the sort of discovery you just can't predict.
The Salvation Army store had a half dozen of these Dr. Seusse "Whoville" Christmas trees still in the boxes for $3.99. The box is dang cute and the tree is adorable.
One of them is now in our living room.
At the same store I was thrilled to find this box of vintage embellishments - again, the packaging is almost as much a find as the glittery pink aluminum starbursts. I might put these all over the "Whoville" tree! Right now I have them sitting on display with the box.
Lights for our wedding - still in the boxes. We already have a variation of these round bulb lights out on the back patio and we'll use these to illuminate our dark road for our out-of-town guests. Note the price - Mammoth thrift stores could take a lesson here. AND, these were on blowout Christmas sale so they were half-price. Now that is a recession-buster!
Particularly this year I could not resist a snow dance do-dad. We should all be doing a snow dance right about now.
Found one, only one, sparkly snowman for a snow globe. Snowmen are remarkably hard to find.
And last, but not least I could not resist these darling little snack plates on sale for 50 cents each. No chips, no crazing, not a thing wrong with these. The stuff you find in thrift stores is amazing.
That was my shopping spree in Carson City. I spent all of $10 on that extravaganza.
